J Jayalalithaa, one of India’s most popular politicians of recent times, passed away last night after three months in Apollo Hospital. Her body is lying in state at the city’s Rajaji Hall, where people are streaming in to pay homage to beloved Amma.
National mourning has been declared and flags will fly at half-mast. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and almost all known political leaders are heading to Chennai to pay homage to Amma.
